COLLECTION
The Wave Collection is inspired by the sea and its various ways of being felt, much like how humans experience different moods over time. I aim to express this in paintings with rich textures, focusing not necessarily on the movement or number of waves but on the colors and how we, as human beings, define them.
I come from a southern city surrounded by the coastline, with the sea being an integral part of my life and my family’s life—father, mother, and brother. The sea is something unique; there is a saying that those who live by the sea are calmer and lead less stressful lives. I hope that one day I too can live on a beach, watching the sea and being grateful for everything it gives us day by day.
During my trip to Brazil on 2024, where I stayed for three months, I wanted to find a way to honor the sea, which led to the creation of the Wave Collection. In this series, I portray how we perceive the sea's moods and how they are similar to those of humans.
In Brazil, different colored flags are used to indicate the sea's conditions, which can be related to human emotions:
-
Red flag: High risk, representing intense emotions like anger or stress.
-
Yellow flag: Medium risk, symbolizing caution or anxiety.
-
Green flag: Low risk, indicating calmness or happiness.
-
Purple flag: Presence of jellyfish, suggesting irritation or discomfort.
-
Black flag: No lifeguards on duty, symbolizing uncertainty, doubt, or ambiguity as there is no one to assess the sea's condition that day.
I draw a parallel between these sea conditions and human emotions in my works. As always, I strive for my works to immerse the viewer in this idea, with the complete representation of the sea being visible from all angles, revealing something more.
I hope you greatly enjoy my Wave Collection '25.
